Weekly Workouts for CMT Youth

DESCRIPTION:
Join other kids with CMT for weekly group exercise! This fun and upbeat workout will focus on the key issues that come from having CMT. Sessions will be led by a trainer who lives with CMT, creating a level of comfort and understanding between teacher and student. These sessions will help your child or teen develop confidence in everyday life, and foster friendships with other kiddos living with CMT. Our exercises will be fun and feel like play (not work!.) There will be a focus on strength training and balance, but we’ll make it enjoyable and fun.
All exercises will have seated options, and standing variations will be shown where applicable. At the end of each session, we’ll do some floor exercises and stretches. If your kiddo is not comfortable coming to the floor, this portion can be done on a bed or couch.
Weekly sessions are 50 mins and in between sessions, the participants will be assigned exercises and stretches on the Everfit exercise app.
Age Groups:
We have 2 age groups:
Pre-teens: 10 - 13
Teens: 14 - 17
Exercises will focus on:
*Improving balance and stability
*Strengthening the body as a whole, with a focus on the legs
*Working on trunk strength to improve walking and standing endurance
*Functional mobility: getting up from a chair, walking up stairs, and/or transfers
*Corrective exercises that can help to reduce pain due to muscle imbalances
*Ankle and full body flexibility
What's included:
Weekly 50 min group exercise sessions conducted on Google Meet
Weekly exercise plans assigned on the Everfit app
Access to our CMT friendly on demand video library
Cost for Youth Membership: $65 / Month
