DESCRIPTION:
In this workshop, we will discuss what scoliosis is, its types and causes, its prevalence in CMT, and management strategies. We will then focus on the individual nature of scoliosis and what to focus on when exercising with scoliosis. We will explore the Schroth Method and the Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis (SEAS), and practice exercises from a seated position to create an individualized plan for managing your scoliosis.
ITINERARY:
Week 1: Scoliosis basics & CMT: types, causes, prevalence in CMT
Week 2: Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis (SEAS): retraining the brain (active self-correction, neurological retraining, and stability)
Week 3: Schroth Method: breathing and correction (3D correction, de-rotation, and breathing)
Week 4: Core-based exercises, posture & CMT adaptations
